TruShield™ Certified is heading to SupplySide Global with growing momentum and a clear message for the sports and active nutrition industry: trust, transparency and rigorous banned substance testing are becoming increasingly important to both brands and consumers.
Over the past year, TruShield has continued to expand through new technology, new certified products, industry education and broader conversations around what meaningful certification should look like.
SupplySide Global provides the perfect opportunity to bring those developments together and continue the conversation with the companies shaping the future of active nutrition.
For TruShield, certification is about more than placing another mark on a package. It is about helping brands demonstrate product integrity while giving athletes, active consumers, retailers and other stakeholders greater confidence in the products they choose.
Making Certification Easier to Verify
One of the most important developments for TruShield this year has been the launch of the TruShield Certification App.
The app was designed to make certification easier to access and verify for consumers, athletes, healthcare professionals, trainers, retailers and others who want greater visibility into the products they use or recommend.
That accessibility matters because certification is most valuable when people understand what stands behind it.
Rather than simply seeing a logo and being expected to trust it, users can verify certification status and gain greater visibility into the standards supporting the TruShield Certified program.
TruShield currently screens for more than 480 prohibited compounds, including anabolic agents, stimulants, SARMs, diuretics and other substances relevant to sports and active nutrition. But banned substance screening is only one part of the certification process. For every lot certified, TruShield also verifies current GMP certification and reviews the product’s Certificate of Analysis (CoA) to confirm label-claim specifications and heavy metals testing.
This lot-by-lot approach helps provide a more complete picture of product quality and reinforces a core TruShield principle: certification should reflect more than a single test. It should bring together prohibited substance screening, manufacturing quality verification and analytical confirmation of what is on the label.
The app strengthens the connection between that rigor and transparency, giving consumers and professional users an easier way to verify the products they rely on.
Turning Certification Into an Industry Conversation
Another important milestone this year was TruShield’s participation in The Outlook on Active Nutrition, where the program partnered with Nutritional Outlook on educational sessions focused on banned substance testing, product quality and consumer confidence.
The first session, Certified Clean: Building Consumer Confidence in Sports Nutrition, explored how certification can help support athlete safety, strengthen consumer trust and give brands a credible way to demonstrate their commitment to quality.
The second session, Beyond Sport Certification: The CON-CRET Case Study, examined certification as part of a broader quality and risk-management system rather than simply a final step in product development.
Those discussions reinforced an important point for the industry:
Certification should not be treated as a badge added after a product has been developed. It should be part of the quality story from the beginning.
For TruShield, meaningful certification starts with the rigor of the testing itself. The breadth of prohibited substances being screened, the expertise behind the laboratory analysis and the integration of certification within a brand’s broader quality systems all contribute to the strength of the program.
Just as importantly, that rigor needs to be communicated in a way consumers can understand.
This is where TruShield believes certification can create real value. It gives brands a way to make their investment in quality more visible while giving consumers another layer of confidence in the products they choose.
Expanding the TruShield Certified Portfolio
The TruShield Certified portfolio is also continuing to grow.
Recent additions include goBHB® Energy Shots from CleanForm Nutrition and MAC Energy, both examples of how certification is expanding beyond traditional sports nutrition formats.
That evolution reflects what is happening across the market.
Sports and active nutrition are no longer defined only by powders and capsules designed for elite athletes. Consumers now use energy shots, functional beverages, ready-to-drink products and other performance-focused formats as part of everyday wellness and active lifestyles.
As the category broadens, the relevance of banned substance testing broadens with it.
For TruShield, growth is not simply about adding more certified products. It is about making rigorous testing and transparency relevant across a wider range of products and consumers.
Expanding Education Through PricePlow
TruShield has also continued to build awareness through educational conversations with PricePlow, helping bring banned substance testing and certification into a broader discussion about product quality, transparency and brand responsibility.
A central theme of those conversations has been that certification programs are not all the same.
The depth of screening matters. The number and types of prohibited substances included in a testing panel matter. Laboratory expertise matters. And certification is most meaningful when it becomes part of a brand’s overall quality strategy rather than simply a standalone marketing claim.
Through PricePlow, TruShield has been able to take topics that can often feel highly technical and make them more relevant to the people formulating, marketing, recommending and purchasing sports nutrition products.
That educational role is becoming increasingly important as consumers look for clearer signals of quality and transparency.
For TruShield, the goal is not simply to increase awareness of the certification mark. It is to help raise expectations for what rigorous banned substance testing should look like across the category.
What TruShield Is Bringing to SupplySide Global
SupplySide Global brings together ingredient suppliers, formulators, manufacturers, finished-product brands, retailers and industry leaders responsible for creating the next generation of nutrition products.
For TruShield, it is an opportunity to continue several important conversations.
Testing depth matters. Not every program screens for the same range of prohibited substances.
Transparency matters. Consumers increasingly want to understand what stands behind quality and certification claims.
Certification can support brand differentiation. Companies investing in rigorous testing and quality systems should have credible ways to make that commitment visible.
Education matters. A certification mark has greater value when consumers understand what it represents.
And perhaps most importantly, banned substance testing is relevant to a much broader audience than competitive athletes alone.
Building the Next Chapter
The past year has brought meaningful momentum for TruShield Certified.
A new app has made certification easier to verify. New products have expanded the certified portfolio. Educational initiatives with Nutritional Outlook and PricePlow have helped deepen the conversation around banned substance testing, product quality and transparency.
SupplySide Global is the next opportunity to build on that momentum.
For TruShield, the message is simple:
Strong products deserve strong standards. And consumers deserve greater confidence in the testing, transparency and quality behind the products they choose.
